Do you remember the funniest thing that ever happened to you in CHURCH?
And how much funnier it was because it WAS happening in church?
Maybe it happened to you, maybe to someone else. Not the normal funny stuff where someone drags toilet paper out of the restroom on their shoe, or gets their skirt tucked into the back of their underwear (although those are always good for a laugh).
No matter what kind of church you attend, a church is not the building, it’s the PEOPLE. People do funny things even when they don’t intend to. It makes life interesting.
Sometimes a funny church experience is even more hilarious because it’s so hard to be quiet while you’re rolling on the floor laughing … while trying to be serious. You’re trying your best not to be disruptive and not to lose your composure, but it catches you off guard and you chuckle almost before you can stop yourself. You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? You’re chuckling about it right now. That chuckle probably reminded you of a good story. Do nice people laugh at things like this? Of course they do! Hold that thought for a minute and we’ll come back to it.
The Bible even talks about laughter. You’ve probably seen these verses …
I hate medicine, but I DO like to laugh. Funny church stories have become a favorite to me because things always seem funnier when you really want to laugh out loud … but you can’t!
Have you ever noticed how a good laugh makes you feel better? The world is a crazy place these days and sometimes you just want to crawl under a rock. While there is a lot of serious stuff going on around us, laughter helps lighten our load and puts things in perspective. It is a great reminder that a power much greater than we are holds the future!
So How About It?
Back to that story that came to your mind a few lines back. Would you like to read your own story in a book like this? Not only could you read yours, but you could laugh at lots of others. Funny church stories are funny no matter where they come from. (We might still be laughing a year or two from now.)
Hey, you may have MORE than one! It could be a hysterical incident that happened during a church service, something funny from Sunday School, at a group church event, on a church trip, at a retreat, at a church dinner, etc. If you happen to be a pastor or a worship leader, your stories could relate to visitation, prayer service, choir rehearsal, or nearly anything else. (A good friend of mine has a great story about (Pastors and worship leaders, I expect to get some REALLY good stuff from you, but of course you need to leave out the names of the people involved so we don’t embarrass anyone.)
Don’t worry; your name won’t be used so feel free to share with complete anonymity.
It’s easy to send YOUR story … and it should only take a few minutes. There are just a few guidelines and you can read them on the “Share Your Funny Church Story” page.
There is no definite schedule for release of Volume 2; it largely depends on the stories that are sent in. (Your email and personal info will not be shared with anyone and I promise only to email you when there is something worth telling.)
If you have a question and you would like to hear from me with an answer, fill in the comment area and I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can. (You might want to look for my email reply in your bulk or spam folder … a lot of email is blocked these days or mistakenly marked as spam by email services.)
Thank you so much in advance for being a part of this project, and for making me and others laugh. Please share this website address with anyone you think would be interested by sending them a link to this site.
I can’t wait to read YOUR story! I’m laughing already.
